What a fantastic course we had today learning all about regenerative grazingnorinciples and practical ways to implement on our farms.
Deep down we know we are overgrazing and tell ourselves paddock rotations are too much work. Two years ago I had so much trouble getting electric fencing to work I gave up. Then last year I bought a decent 6joules energiser and committed to it properly. Although I did have a slight issue on my outfarm land with the fence being unhooked often by walkers. Think they thought those poor cows only have a tiny patch of this whole field, not realising it was only for one day!!!
Anyone experienced with adaptive grazing management will tell you they have seen the increase in grass cover, faster regrowth, extended grazing seasons and soil compaction reversing.
I learned many ways of dealing with water in this system that I want to try out this year.
I will try to measure the grass better and record more so I have data to look back on to monitor how everything is progressing.
Excited to hear from others this year how they are getting on and who has best figured out the infrastructure so I can copy them 😜😂
Cheers to NFFN for getting the funding for these courses for us all. And cheers to Niels for travelling over to share his knowledge.
