Bane of my life....
Anyone tried/use the kiwi tech system?
I'm having to expand my kit. Traditionally I've found Rutland to be the best (high build quality and not overly complicated)... However they've been sold to a German company and the range that I used is no longer available.
I'm loathed to use Fane Valley or Geared reels, as find that they aren't robust, and are badly engineered, easily broken, so really not worth their asking price..
Looking at Kiwi Tech, it seems like an expensive introduction, but thereafter quite cheap to expand the system- and looks relatively foolproof?!
(we use a three wire system and multiple paddocks/daily moves- just in case)
Any thoughts??
We're perhaps not using electric fencing intensely enough (not daily moves) so currently getting away with a hotchpotch of geared reels. Gallagher solar energiser is great though and got most of the sheep trained to single strand of polywire now which saves a lot of yomping. Still a lot of permanent boundary fencing to sort here and then we will look to introduce more semi-permanent HT hot wires.
Hi
We have been using the kiwitech now for a month or so! It was a bit tricky to get the hang of that start but we love it! We had originally been doing 2 day moves and now have the sheep and lambs on daily moves. It’s very straightforward once you get into the way of going!
In fact we are about to purchase more of it!
Thanks
Esther
I don’t mind the geared reel, it’s the carrying of all the kit across the field. I’m like a mong dropping all the posts! I just need a handy wheeler system to move the stuff and I’d be happy. I bought a VOSS 6joule battery or mains one and it’s brilliant. Never failed and well waterproofed. It stretches so far keeping the power, I can do the whole back fence and a lane to the drinker in one line.
Although dad didn’t realise how powerful it was compared to his 0.6 joule normal one and zapped me on the elbow once as I joke, knowing how much I hate being shocked. He felt bad when he seen me drop to the ground in pain 😂😂😂
We have a heap of geared reels here but if i were to do it again kiwitech would be the stuff. The manual winder pacs seem pretty inexpensive for what the offer or were you thinking of the powered ones?
In the future I’ll definitely be looking at the arrow posts with high tensile wire to make up semi permanent grazing laneways.
