Got the results back for our first crop of red clover silage cut in May 23. Was sown Sept 23 after winter wheat. Protein perhaps not quite as I hoped it might be but maybe clover wasn't established enough to be pumping the N. Received a light dressing of N (18kg/ha) to try and compensate for this. Hopefully that won't be necessary this year. And dry matter a little low but think this must be due to not turning it to avoid shattering the clover. But overall happy with the result given our previous cuts had been nowhere near these D and ME values and ewes seem to be enjoying it. Anyone else growing red clover? Have 20 excess bales if anyone is after some.

Given the year id say 24% dm is very good. I havent tested ours this year but it will be below 20% i would think.
