I let the sheep into the back of the farm yard where this sally willow (not sure of proper name!) grows everywhere. They went straight for it and now every one is nipped off to where they can reach!
Nice to see them choose to eat it and browse so freely.
It's supposed to be high in cobalt, zinc and magnesium for animals.
the bark has aspirin for pain killer properties and studies are showing eating the leaves can reduce methane emissions. AFBI are doing a study on it currently but with other willow varieties.
Hoping to plant more varieties around the farm as fodder for the cattle and sheep.
I heard about the aspirin relief. V. Interesting 🤔
