Hi All,
Lots of advertising around supersoil going on at the moment. The principle sounds great around nitrogen fixing bacteria etc. I have asked for more detail/science behind what's in it but it's not been forth coming so far - which makes me wary. I know there are other nitrogen fixing bacteria additives you can put on the fields. I just wondered had anyone any experience of using it and how did you find it?
Thanks
Esther
I would personally be wary if someone selling nitrogen fixing bacteria, something that was probably not on anyones radar until high fertiliser prices have come about. Thinking out loud, to me the bacteria need a suitable environment in which to survive and operate. Just buying ‘bacteria’ and expecting them to thrive in an unsuitable environment to me wouldn’t work.
Early succession legume plants provide this environment until such times that the soil health is good enough to sustain the bacteria in the rhizosphere around plant roots….is how I understand it anyway.
Hi Esther
I personally think this guy is a shark! 😆
He won’t give out much info on the product or a data sheet. I did buy one to try and as soon as I seen it I was convinced it was just finely ground humates at a very expensive cost! Didn’t see any noticeable difference when I used it but the field was in bad order so needs a lot more work to get it back to health.
Like you say there is plenty of nitrogen fixing bacteria sellers out there and they note which bacteria their product contains, this product doesn’t note that so I doubt there is any in there at all.
Www.newgenagri.co.uk sell 20/25kg of soluble humates for about £80. Get in touch with them they are really open and knowledgable about their products.
Humates has so many uses it’s a great product.
Peter Gallagher on here is using humates at the minute you could get in touch with him.
I’ve personally used it for treating ringworm, a tiny amount in my worm farm, in my compost, treating scour and will be using it as a foliar spray for the soil this year to experiment.
Charlie Cole on here is a mother really knowledgable guy to reach out to.
Hope this has helped a little 😀
Let us know what you go with and how you get on!
