End of the grass growing season and below is how we've done for the year. Definitely seeing improvement in our permanent pastures as a result of rotational grazing and liming.
The most surprising result is paddock 4 which seems to have been jam packed with grass all year. It's long term permanent pasture. Has had no nutrient since spring 2021. Last year it yielded 5T/Ha and this year it has done 11.8T/Ha. The only input has been 1.5t/lime to the acre back in June. And it has been rotationally grazed with sheep and calves throughout the grazing season. It's quite a big jump in output and while I imagine the lime has helped it I'm hoping the recovery of the soil has too. I would have classed this field as compacted and quite anoxic when we first started in 2021 and not many worms but I had a dig the other day and the spade went in like a knife through butter and plenty of worms. So fingers crossed we are moving in the right direction...
Thats nice soil!!
